Mount Dial
NewStars Elite’s ‘Tassie Tops’ event, is designed to complete a hike challenge in the changing terrain of the seasons.
Our Challenge for Summer this year was to summit Mount Dial via watching the sun come up from Mount Montgomery.
5 minutes in to our 5 hour return hike, we saw our first snake and only saw 1 more after that before sun up.
We got to the top of Mount Montgomery but unfortunately didn’t get the sunrise we hoped for.
We sat for a little before continuing on our way to Mount Dial summit.
It was a very lovely well maintained track, a little confusing in some areas not knowing which way to go but overall a very good 5 hour return hike with awesome people and conversations.
Once again the clouds did not clear for us on Dial so we will have to try again another day, next time leaving from Gnomon car park
Advice
Always be prepared for your hike and cover all safety aspects of weather, first aid, flora/fauna etc
Fallen /falling trees are always something to watch out for as well as snakes in the warmer weather and yes they are out when its dark.
